14/05/2018 TBA N/A Limb angiogram New Code Submitted Whilst we have specific angiogram codes for eyes cardiac spinal cerebral and recently published one for pelvic there is no code for the less common ones for example limb.
09/05/2018 B2999 Reconstruction of breast using stacked deep inferior epigastric perforator flap (DIEP) (including delayed reconstruction) - unilateral (2 flaps) Reconstruction of breast using stacked deep inferior epigastric perforator flap (DIEP) (including delayed reconstruction) - unilateral (2 flaps) +/- donor site wound correction procedure Narrative Change Submitted Improves coding structure and adds clarity Our Medical Advisors consider that wound asymmetry following a DIEP or TRAM flap is immediately evident very common and can be corrected at the time. Any necessary wound tidying procedure should therefore be undertaken at the time of the original surgery and so request that the narrative should include the wording “+/- donor site wound correction procedure” to make clear that if required this should be undertaken as part of the original procedure.

30/04/2018 G2590 Revision of anti-reflux operations N/A Coding Principles Submitted As G2331 which includes anti reflux procedure is listed as an unacceptable combination, our CMO feels that G2332, also an anti reflux procedure, should be an unacceptable combination.

30/04/2018 N/A N/A Laparoscopic pelvic lymphadenectomy New Code Submitted Improves coding structure and adds clarityThe code T8560 is for Robotic assisted laparoscopic pelvic lymphadenectomy but unlike all the other Robotic assisted codes there is no direct non-robotic equivalent.
27/04/2018 K3501 N/A Closure of Paravalvular leak New Code Submitted Brand new procedure/testNew method of surgical procedure can now be delivered by a Cardiologist in Cath Lab rather than a theatre. Surgical Code is K3500 alternative coding suggested due to theatre level and LoS.

26/04/2018 N/A N/A The newly introduced code X0011 is Consultant supervision - should this be Clinical supervision. Also this seems to be a duplicate with X6581? New Code Submitted
26/04/2018 H3335 N/A Anastomotic leakage after a lower anterior colorectal resection resulting in endoscopically accessible cavity for treatment with Endo-Sponge. New Code Submitted Improves coding structure and adds clarityNew code gives option for secondary indication to treat complication after primary indication (colorectal resection).
18/04/2018 N/A N/A Quantitative Sensory Testing New Code Published Improves coding structure and adds clarityQST tests are used for non-invasive assessment and quantification of sensory nerve function in patients with symptoms of or the potential for neurological damage or disease. Quantitative Sensory Testing (QST) is a valuable method for diagnosing peripheral nervous system disorders including chronic pain and pain related to various diseases such as Diabetes and CRPS. QST essentially determines the sensation and pain thresholds for cold and warm temperatures and the vibration sensation threshold by stimulating the skin and comparing the results to normative values built in the software. When the stimulus activates stimuli-specific receptors; the nerve fibres that innervate the receptors communicate the stimuli's message to the central nervous system where feeling occurs. QST tests can be conducted on the limbs however hands and feet are the most common as it is testing for peripheral nervous disorders.
12/04/2018 P2420 Sacrocolpopexy (including laparoscopic) Sacrocolpopexy (including laparoscopic) +/- ureterolysis Narrative Change Published To align current codes and consistencyWe already have "+/- ureterolysis" in the narrative of many of the gynaecological codes eg. P2453 Infracoccygeal sacropexy using mesh to repair vaginal vault prolapse +/- ureterolysis so it seems logical to include this in the narrative of P2420 as this is often part and parcel of the procedure.
12/04/2018 TBA N/A Diagnostic small-bore needle arthroscopy on cavity of joint (as sole procedure) New Code Published Brand new procedure/testThis new technique will mainly be used to diagnose intra-articular knee pathology but can also be used for other joints such as shoulder elbow and ankle.
12/04/2018 TBA N/A Angiogram not elsewhere specified New Code Published Whilst we have specific angiogram codes for eyes cardiac spinal and cerebral there is no generic code for the less common ones for example a pelvic angiogram.

07/03/2018 AU030 N/A Follow up session with vestibular testing New Code Published Improves coding structure and adds clarityWe feel that there is a need for these codes as they follow the same pattern as AU001 and AU002 for audiology testing and still fit within the Audiology diagnostic chapter.
07/03/2018 AU029 N/A Initial session with vestibular testing New Code Published Improves coding structure and adds clarityWe feel that there is a need for these codes as they follow the same pattern as AU001 and AU002 for audiology testing and still fit within the Audiology diagnostic chapter.
07/03/2018 N/A N/A Short stem hip replacement New Code Submitted Different clinical pathway and patient demographic – aimed at much younger and more active patients short stem prosthesis designed to allow implantation through smaller incision and maximises bone and tissue preservation to allow easier revision in the future. Also known as: • hip microplasty • mini stem • bone preserving hip replacement. NICE have issued guidance on total hip replacement and resurfacing arthroplasty - relates to treatment for end stage arthritis and that prosthesis used should have rates or predicted rates of revision of 5% or less at 10 years. The majority of studies regarding short stem hip prosthesis showed follow up of less than 5 years. Some of these stems are simply shorter versions of existing designs whilst others are radically different in design and are truly bone-preserving. Theoretically allows for a conventional total hip replacement to be carried out later no need for revisional stem. Long-term results are not yet available as most of these designs have been on the market for only a few years.
